The mammoth fossils at Manchester Museum are mostly from Creswell Crags, near Nottingham and Windy Knoll, Derbyshire. Both these sites are much more recent and have yielded various bones and teeth, not the complete skull which has been found in France.

It will be interesting to see how this story develops and what new clues are revealed about the evolution of these long gone giants.

UPDATE: The skull has now been lifted.
