Great day with Cheadle and Marple College

We had a great day with Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College yesterday. They came to the museum for the A-level geology workshop. Plant hopper (LL.15963)

22 students came to brush up their fossil skills. We started with a tour of the gallery where we had a close look at some of the highlights such as the Burgess shale fossils, the fossil tree and the T. rex. We then had a look at a box of mystery fossils.

The task was to work out what there was, interpret the environment and discover the age through using a range chart. Everyone did really well and used the evidence to show what they’d found. We ended the sessions by looking at some of the spectacular amber and trilobite fossils from the collection.

If you would like to book an A-level geology session here at the museum please go to our post-16 page.
